One pressing question remained: where was the mother bear? In the heat of the moment, they had lost sight of her and weren’t sure where she had gone.
They turned toward the shore, looking for the spot where they had last seen her. After a while, one of the men spotted a rock where the bear had set foot on land. They headed toward the coast.
